Windows XP: Stupid Notepad Tricks

Windows Notepad has a little known log function that will insert the date and time into the file every time a specially created document is re-opened. All you have to do is open a new instance of Notepad, and type .LOG as the first line of the file. Now save the document and close it, and re-open the document, the current date and time will be appended to the end of the file.

Below is the result from a test that I did. This is kind of a stupid trick,.

.LOG
7:14 PM 12/3/2006
This a test... #1
7:15 PM 12/3/2006
This a test... #2

The date/time is automatically inserted into the document when its opened. This trick would be useful if you're keeping some type of diary, and you want the date/time of the entry to be automatically inputed for you.
