This security feature is designed to prevent spammers from using a technology called 'Web Beacons' which lets spammers know that they have a legitimate e-mail address. The way Web Beacons work is when the e-mail client requests an embedded graphic, it has a unique identifier attached to it. The unique identifier tells the spammer which email addresses are legitimate.
To turn off this feature and enable graphics, follow the instructions below
- From the Start menu | All Programs | Outlook Express.
- From the Tools menu and select Options...
- Click the Security tab.
- Uncheck the 'Block images and other external content in HTML e-mail' checkbox
- Press the OK button.
